Lightroom Classic Editing?

Should you edit in the folder or use a collection and why?

When I started using LrC in 2017 or 18 the WHY escaped me because both edited the same information. So why was I told that?

Now in 2026 I now why I should use collections.

My choice is creating virtual copies within the collection so I have different crop ratios as well tonal adjustments depending on the output version, B&W, display, print media.

Your sensor usually is 2x3 or 3x4 so you use virtual copy to crop for your output media ratio.

Goodhart's Law

How does Goodhart's Law apply to photo evaluation?

There’s a well-known concept in economics and management called "Goodhart’s Law": "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure."
When a metrics are main goal, people start optimizing for the number/rule instead of the actual goal—and the overall quality suffers.
Think about how we evaluate photographs. Drop your thoughts and examples in the comments below.
